OUR PURPOSE
Since the founding of Sierra Baptist Church in Independence, California in 1956, by Fay and Ben Lawrence, our purpose is to glorify God is all that we do. We exist to glorify God by developing committed followers of Jesus Christ who will attract others to Him.
Our Mission
Our mission is to develop committed followers of Jesus Christ and teach them to obey Him.
These followers are to join the mission of attracting others to Him.
Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20
What We've Achieved
Our people are the first to tell you that we are not the perfect church. However, we are growing in our love for the Savior and each other. We welcome all to join us as we grow together (2 Peter 3:18; John 13:34-35). Our emphasis in on the teaching of God's Word. It is the food we need for healthy growth individually and corporately (1 Peter 2:2). We have Home Bible Studies throughout Independence, quarterly fellowship dinners, food banks for the needy, and many holiday community celebrations including Thanksgiving dinner, Christmas outreach, Good Friday community service and a community sunrise service.
